Christmas may still be 10 weeks away, but Cindy and James have been planning since June. Toys on lay-by, stretching every dollar, doing everything they can to make sure it's a special time for their children.
This year has been particularly tough. James works as a tow-truck driver, but his income doesn't cover the bills and rent the way it used to.
We met Cindy and James at our Morwell Community Food Centre last month. Their four-year-old daughter Ruby was in tow while the older children were at school. They'd come in to stock up on pantry staples, yoghurt, protein, and enough fresh fruit and vegetables to feed their young family for the week.
They planned to fill the kids up with "a lot of pasta and mince dishes".
"Without this, we'd be really struggling," Cindy told us.
