Thanks to the generosity of acclaimed filmmakers Richard and Lisa Keddie, we've created a film all about Foodbank's work - work that happens because of YOU!
In this film, you'll meet people from all walks of life, like Mike. Mike, an Ambulance Victoria paramedic, fills an ambulance full of food, driving for hours to check in on his community as part of Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House bush nurses' program.
You'll also meet Tahirih, a farmer donating bountiful, leafy greens to Foodbank on the regular - and Bill, who's been going without heat or water for years to afford food. And that's a taster of the resilient, incredible people you'll see in this film, who all play a part in the work we do.
We called it 'A Place at our Table', because that's what we want for EVERY Victorian.
Help us create MORE places at our table
Let us introduce you to some AMAZING people 😊

Three littles WORDS, that's all it takes
Lining up on an early morning in Sale for one of our regular Farms to Families markets, there are hundreds of life stories. To hear them, you only need to ask one question. "HOW ARE YOU?"
Our Farms to Families trucks are full of healthy, garden-fresh produce for a week's worth of nourishment. Every trip, they feed around 300 FAMILIES - and with those 300 families come 300 reasons why people have needed our help. Rents at record highs. Bills going through the roof. Chatting to folks as they make their way through the market, it's clear that times are tough on these parts.
But these communities, so tightly knit show up for one another wherever they can. Whether they're serving up home cooked meals to someone who'd be going without, or checking in on someone down the street, these communities just do. They make the impossible, possible. Like YOU do. All without even having to ask. They just know.
A small town kind of love
Meet Leanne — founder and beating heart of Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House for the past 30 years. With over 100 VOLUNTEERS, the House provides emergency relief across the region: food hampers, pre-cooked meals, clothes and bedding, all delivered free to those who need it.
Their bush nurses even travel to tiny, outlying communities — places so small, Leanne says, they barely qualify as towns. With no infrastructure and hospitals hours away, these communities rely entirely on each other. And food plays a powerful role.
In rural areas, food is more than nourishment — it’s a way in. A reason to knock, to check in, to connect. Thanks to Leanne, her unstoppable team, and Foodbank, that connection is possible. And it’s all driven by one thing: YOUR generosity.

Meet Leanne from Bairnsdale

Meet Bill
Behind BIG smiles
Feeding 69,000 Victorians daily isn't easy. And it wouldn't be possible without our 500 charity partners that help make it happen, right across the state. Knock on any one of their doors, and you'll be met with warm hospitality, a kind smile and wide-open arms.
Enjoy Church in Gippsland is no exception. Locals head there every Friday to be welcomed with a cup of tea and a community lunch. While their food warms up, friends catch up, visitors grab free groceries from the community pantry, kids learn to play dominoes, and we get to meet people like Bill - who, in order to afford the food he needs, has been going without heating or hot water for years now.
Bill tells us that without Foodbank, he wouldn't be here today. It's so hard to hear but we're so grateful to be the reason behind big, unforgettable smiles like Bill's. Something that wouldn't be true without YOU.
They can be heroes...for more than one day!
There are so many unsung heroes who make our work possible — forklift drivers, volunteers, the legends behind the wheels of our trucks. And among them are some quiet superstars who never ask for the spotlight: our food donors. Without them, we wouldn’t be Foodbank. We’d just be “bank” (and that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it).
Take Dicky Bill’s farmers, for example. Like all growers, they carry a huge responsibility — up at dawn, ear to the ground, making sure their produce keeps growing strong. With so much on their plate, they rarely get to see just how far their donations go. And wow, do they go FAR.
Dicky Bill regularly donates hundreds of kilos of fresh, vibrant salads, herbs and greens to Foodbank. At a time when many families are struggling to afford fresh veggies, these donations make a life-changing difference. So we think it’s time someone sang a tune for these unsung heroes. It’s the LEAST we can do.
